Leonard Hansen

Oklahoma-based commercial developer, hunter and outdoorsman Leonard Hansen achieved a Double Grand Slam of North American wild sheep in 2014 and has taken all four of the sub-species of desert bighorn rams while hunting in southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico.

A longtime board member of the Oklahoma City chapter of Safari Club International, Hansen had pursued deer, antelope, elk and moose before setting his sights on wild sheep. It was while hunting mule deer outside the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park that he first got a good view this iconic game trophy and became intrigued with its pursuit.

To share the memories, excitement and experience of his adventures hunting desert bighorn sheep, the hunter has authored his latest book, North American Desert Sheep Hunting. He provided a previous work on hunting a variety of big game, North American Mountain Hunting, and an earlier account of his eight-year struggle for his first Grand Slam of North American bighorn sheep, The Great Wild Sheep Adventure.
