In his 31-year career in television and advertising, J. Mac Troy wrote and produced thousands of television and radio commercials and promotional announcements, dozens of prime-time documentaries, and served as producer for scores of live televised events such as football and basketball games, tennis matches, air shows, political debates and awards programs. He produced ten years of prime-time specials from the flight line at Aerospace America, and twelve years of the prestigious Five Who Care awards telecast—including the first-ever live broadcast from the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum’s Sam Noble Special Events Center.
He won Addy Awards in three states, received an Emmy nomination, and won the coveted Gold Award from the Houston WorldFest Film Festival. In his years as an advertising agency creative director, he handled all television production for Jimmy Dean Sausage, Tyson Foods and Dillard’s, as well as regional and local accounts of all types.
Following a 15-year tenure in Oklahoma City as KOCO-TV5’s director of special projects, Troy founded Mac Troy Communications, a company specializing in television programs and videos for corporations and commercials. He produced nationwide shows for Court TV (Forensic Files); The Learning Channel (Medical Detectives) and the Travel Channel. He produced the University of Oklahoma’s institutional TV commercial, which aired nationally in NCAA broadcasts for several seasons.
Mac's curiosity about life and love of adventure provided valuable experience and fired his passion for the written word. As a voracious reader, Mac hoped one day to have the time to transfer this acquired knowledge into writing books that would transport readers, young and old, to new worlds. Out of Time is the realization of that dream.
